American Idol…And Then There Were 9
March 27, 2008 by alntv
I’ve made a conscience decision to make this a quick blog because last week I basically typed whatever popped into my head and it was so freaking long even I wouldn’t have read it…and I wrote it!
So let’s go shorter and realize that this is an hour long show. They’re gonna do the cheesy song, they’re gonna do the cheesier commercial, someone is going to make a guest appearance, they’re gonna take FOREVER to have the contestants sit down, and then someone will get kicked off that I thought would be around for a little while longer. It’s gonna happen. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jason Castro get the boot tonight.
First things first. Simon is wearing some white, button-down shirt that is open down to his belly button, so I’m creeped out before the show even begins! Way to go Simon…ya big dork.
Musical number over. Thankfully.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Big sales pitch for ITunes video. Interesting how they get to go back and record the songs in a studio though. Nice piece!
Last Night Recap. And…it was just as bad as I remember.
Chikeze’s in the bottom 3? Hmmm…
Brooke’s gotta be safe. And she is.
Carly up next. “Total Eclipse” sucked. But she’s safe.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Cheesier commercial. Actually, its kinda cool this time. Idols on shirts and posters and stuff. Nice! I’m actually enjoying tonight’s show. Let’s see how it proceeds…
David Archuleta. Not going anywhere.
David Cook. Not going anywhere.
Syesha. In the bottom 3. Kind of a surprise actually.
Michael Johns. Probably not gone considering there’s 2 out already. And…he sits safe.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Call-in segment. Good…I can eat my dinner.
Kimberley Locke is gonna sing tonight. Honestly, I didn’t watch that season, so I don’t know who she is. I recognize the face, but I couldn’t tell you anything about her. Guess I’m gonna find out. Huh…she owns a restaurant. Interesting. Anyway, she sings a song called “Fall” (I guess). Not bad. She’s probably one of the better performances of this season. I would have voted for her. Kinda sounds like a religious song. Nicely done.
COMMERCIAL BREAK (Sidebar…I don’t know what the deal is, but this week seems a lot better than last week. Maybe the producers are learning something here…)
Idol Gives Back video segment. Over $76 million raised last year. 10,000 kids in programs. 120 million meals. 4,000 life saving immunizations. 25,000 books donated. Food & shelter to evacuated families from natural disasters. Maybe they could take some of that money that is going into the show that proceeds American Idol (”The Moment Of Truth”) and do some good with it. What do ya think FOX?
Back to the show…
Ramiele. Ugh…she’s gonna be safe. I just know it. And she is.
Now Jason and Kristy Lee come out together. This has GOT to be a no brainer. But Kristy DID sing “God Bless The USA”. Crap. Jason is in the bottom 3. Unbelievable.
I hate Kristy. But even so, Ramiele definitely had the worst performance last night. Here’s my thought. There are a lot of country music fans and Asian-Americans calling in on Tuesday nights. No way Kristy and Ramiele are better than the 3 in the bottom this week. No way.
This is crazy.
Ryan surprises me by letting Jason know he’s safe. Thank you. I can breathe now.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Moment of truth. I pick Chikeze to go.
And he does. Nuts. I really like him. I’m glad he gets to go on the tour. He has really gotten to be a much better performer over the course of this show and he has a great voice. I hope he goes on to do a great solo album! But it goes to show…you gotta pick the right song. No one knew his song last night, and at this point, that’s a big deal for the guys in the middle of the pack.
Kristy Lee is definitely the smartest singer in this competition.
Oh well. She’ll go at some point. Until next week Idol fans!
