How many licks does it take to get to the center of a lollipop?
Remember the good old days of rap? Back when it was either fun to listen too (like Slick Rick) or important to listen too (like Public Enemy)? Well those days aren’t over! For every Lil Wayne (can anybody really understand a word of what he is saying?), there is a Kanye West. For every David Banner, there is a Ludacris. Rap ain’t dead…you just have to look for the good stuff (such as Nas’ new album which came out this week!)…
Me being the whitest guy on the planet, I figured it was time for me to throw out a rap mix. It consists of some older rap artists and some new rap artists. These artists have made a contribution to the genre and made it better every time they lay a track down. Here’s 8 great rap tracks…Enjoy!
1. Jurassic 5 – “What’s Golden”
2. Public Enemy – “Who Stole The Soul”
3. Tupac – “Death Around The Corner”
4. Nas – “Sly Fox”
5. Jay Z – “99 Problems”
6. EPMD – “You Gots To Chill”
7. Missy Elliott – “Sock It To Me”
8. Slick Rick – “Children’s Story”

Love the picture of the 8 tracks, my parents had these back in 1972, most people here would be like, “whats that” LOL.. Yep theres a lot that I miss, but Hip-Hop will stand strong forever!!
Fo’ shizzle my nizzle!
Uh…yeah…dunno what that means…fo sho
for some reason, i just can’t picture you and rap . . nope, cant do it.
and grandmasterflash is da shitttt!
Yeah…me and rap are in a love/hate relationship. Some days I love it, others not so much. But I grew up listening to Grandmaster Flash, Slick Rick, Beastie Boys, Run DMC…so it’s all good…
To this day I can’t figure out why Jurassic 5 wasn’t a huge band. They should have been a much bigger deal.
I agree. But when you start having Dave Matthews appear on a rap album, maybe you’re going in the wrong direction…just sayin’…
What about Ludacris???? His songs are brilliant!!
Oh…I like Ludacris also! I gotta do a 2nd rap mix…
