The other morning as I drove to Covington, parked and then walked to work, the eerie quiet and the foggy landscape made for a somewhat creepy morning commute. However there is always beauty to be found in such things and as much as I love zombie flicks, it seemed like a good time to break out my Hipstamatic and take some pictures! Watch for the undead chasing after me in the early morning fog…

The Carnegie Deli & The Melo
In the city that never sleeps, there is a deli that stacks its meat so high that it takes 3 grown men to eat one sandwich. Established in 1937, the Carnegie Deli has entertained many famous celebrities, from actors to musicians, politicians to gangsters. And when you visit, you can peruse the list by looking at the many photos that fill the wall space. You think you know Hollywood? Check out the people who have managed to eat the famous “Broadway Danny Rose.” It’s a “who’s who” of comediennes and B-listers who have flocked through the deli doors.
But I’m not here to write about the famous…I’m here to talk about food. And on this trip to New York, my friends and I tackled the mighty “Melo.” Carmelo Anthony is the latest Knick to get his own sandwich and, much like the athletes’ size 14 shoe, this sucker is HUGE! Stacked with pastrami, salami, bacon and corn beef, it’s truly a heart attack on a platter.
Item shown is NOT actual size…it’s MUCH bigger!
But it was just soooo good! And we all 3 walked away stuffed! Well…AFTER we had the cheesecake. THEN we were finished. And then I had to go for a walk around Times Square…to just allow my stomach to settle down a bit…

Views From the Exit Row Seat
Whenever I travel (which is only every now & then), I always like to get the exit aisle seat. It’s not first class but it usually has a little more leg room and I like to think it’s for us “special people” considering no one under the age of 15 can sit there. But if there IS an emergency, I am required to aid everyone in getting off the plane. I’ll take that responsibility. Anyway…I like to take pictures. Here’s a few…because I’m like that…

Detroit In Hipstamatic
Ah the beauty of Detroit. The Motor City is known for it’s luscious views, it’s warm weather and it’s…wait…I’m thinking of someplace else. It’s cold in Detroit and maybe not a lot to look at. But whatever, the Hipstamatic app can find beauty anywhere. And here’s the proof. I went for a walk along the water near our hotel (the downtown Marriott) and snapped these photos. Leave it to me to make this city look purty…
Happy Halloween!
10th Anniversary Trip: S.F. & Napa Valley
For our 10th anniversary, my wife & I made a trek across the U.S. to visit San Francisco and the Napa wine country. Seemed like the thing to do considering Stephanie had never been to San Fran and neither of us had been to Napa and we both kinda like wine. Not a lot of wine, mind you…but a little. So what the hell…right? 10 years in and we deserve a drink! LOL
Anyway…we had a wonderful time and the weather was great. We were only there for a couple of days but that was enough to sample some wonderful wines. We visited 4 wineries and sipped mucho vino and even bought a vat, a bottle, a couple bottles, OKAY OKAY!!! We bought 6 bottles and they are being shipped right now to our house! Geez! We also visited Steph’s cousin and his wife. We ate sushi and drove VERY CAREFULLY around the San Francisco cityscape. Not the easiest city to drive in, that San Francisco. Lots of hills, if ya didn’t know. Anyway…here are the pictures. Let’s start out with some HIPSTAMATIC!!!

Now more normal photos…

The Pfister
When staying in Milwaukee, there’s no place quite like The Pfister. Elegant and classic (and haunted), this timeless hotel has been known to be one of the most extravagant (and haunted) hotels in this part of the country. Since it’s opening in 1893, The Pfister has been known for it’s Victorian artwork, it’s extraordinary architecture and it’s impeccable style (and it’s haunted). I was lucky enough to get to stay at The Pfister for a few nights this past week. Here are some photos of the inside. Check out the artistry, the beauty and the interesting…
Well hell…look for ghosts ’cause the damn place is haunted! Oooor….so they say…

The portal to Hell? I think not…

An empty hallway. OBVIOUSLY haunted…

My room. Do you see what I see?

Goodnight My Friends. Sleep well tonight…in…The Pfister!

(Eh…I had to do SOMETHING with these pictures…)
Just Out Having Fun

My main source of nourishment on the road.
So tonight my wife has left me for a “Girl’s Night Out”. I haven’t been home much the last few months and she needed to blow off some steam. Can’t say I blame her. She’s been at home entertaining our two young children who need to be entertained EVERY…SECOND…OF…THE…DAY. So…tonight is her night off. As for me…well…I’ve been out galivanting around the country, enjoying some RnR in Dallas and St. Louis and Washington, DC and Seattle and San Francisco/Oakland and just having a ball! Good times for me as I get to hang out in coffeeshops and chat with friends old & new. So here I am, documenting my travels for you. I talk as if I’m bitter, but I’m not. I kid because I care. And I AM actually enjoying some of my travels and I HAVE seen some of the best friends a person can have. So to my good friends Ed, Chris and Michelle…it was great seeing you all and sharing a good meal and drinks. And to the above mentioned cities…thank you for being so hospitable. Honestly, it’s the cool places I get to go that make this job I do so much fun. But someday, I would love to bring my family along. I miss them terribly when I’m gone. But maybe THAT is why we call it “work”, not “playtime”? Not that you can tell by these photos…stupid Hipstamatic…

Busch Stadium Hipstamatic
Just so ya know…I LOVE the Hipstamatic app for my IPhone. Love it so much, in fact, that I’ve created a new category just for my Hipsta prints that I’ve been taking all over the place. Recently I was in St. Louis, MO where I was working the Reds at Cardinals series. Here are a few photos I took while I was there. GO REDS!!!
