I very much agree but unfortunately the “powers that be” have not realized they are a big part of the problem and (as the last several hours on my TV show) are already helping someone else decide to go over the brink. Again a great idea but it hasn’t reached the right minds yet!!! How many more deaths will it take before “they” figure it out???

You and I are a lot alike! I really enjoyed that post! I remember the guy you were as a high school friend and then a work and college friend. We have both had blessed lives and I think you are right, our futures are bright because of who we were!

well cuz since my kids are much older than yours I guess that makes me a seasoned parent – the first thing I will say is that you will NEVER be done being a parent. My kids always had responsibility but in small doses – started with cleaning their rooms, then homework projects and so on. One of my sons learned a lesson in jr. high when he forgot his gym shoes and I was working and couldn’t bring them to him, he got a B in gym that semester that bothered him as he was an A student – he never forgot his gym clothes/shoes again. During the summer is when they had most of their responsibility since sports were at a slower pace and there was no homework – they cleaned bathrooms, vacuumed the downstairs, took out the trash and kept their rooms cleaned. You need to look at each of your children, their capabilities, maturity and go from there – start small and work from there. You and Stephanie are great parents you have great parents – you’re doing a good job keep up the good work and just follow your instincts – just make sure they know that no matter what happens, what they do you will always be there for them.

Alan,that is the most beautiful LOVE LETTER. To YOUR WIFE. I know you meant it for the kids. The very best thing parents can do for their children is LOVE EACH OTHER !!! Your love for Stephanie and the kids is oozing from this love letter. I am so proud to have you as my son-in-law.
