Spinning My Wheels: @#$^@!…196.7…!*@&#%???

Stick a pint of Graeter’s in there and you got me pretty much every night…

So I went spinning today for the first time in over 3 weeks. I have been very busy working and haven’t had time to go. And I have admittedly been bad about getting my butt to the hotel gym also. When I’ve been working 2 games a day and traveling and getting up at odd hours and working until odd hours, it tends to sap my energy to go workout. And that is the excuse I’m sticking with.

Then today I went and stood on the scale. So can I tell you that at one point last summer, I was feelin’ all good about myself and got my weight down from 201 to 189! I was very proud of myself…eating salads, spinning, lifting weights, doing all the good stuff. And then football season hit and I went back up to 192. Not terrible. Then the holidays hit and I went up to 194.5. Then we roll into basketball tournament time and now I’m up to 196.7?!? Holy motherf$#%^ crap!!!

Needless to say, I am NOT happy with myself. This is gonna stop right here. I have GOT to start watching what I eat. In the past 2 weeks alone, I have had endless pizza, a couple of buffets, Graeters Ice Cream before bed, Skyline chili, mexican, indian, you name it. AND I sit on my butt all day and eat snacks and candy! It’s TERRIBLE!

So today was my wake up call. Gonna start hittin’ the weights again and going to the gym on as much of a regular basis as I can. Wish me luck everyone! But I do have ONE word of advice for my spin instructor who picked out the music for today…

“It’s Raining Men” is NOT gonna make me move any faster!!! Dammit…

3-Way Or The Highway!

THIS is the good stuff!

So I wrote a blog mentioning a Cincinnati delicacy yesterday and thoroughly confused one of my readers. And I can understand why. It sounds somewhat perverted if you have no idea what I’m talking about. So I figured I would fill you in!

If you’ve never been to Cincinnati or Ohio, then you probably have never tried Skyline chili. And here is where it gets difficult to explain because, truthfully, Skyline chili isn’t really “chili” by most definitions. Skyline chili is actually more like spaghetti with coney sauce on it…but they also put it on coney dogs. So it’s more of a coney sauce…but they also use it on pasta. Get it?

No? Okay then. Aaaaanyway…so at Skyline, you can order your pasta with this sauce (which has cinnamon in it. Don’t ask. You have to taste it for yourself!) and with one or more toppings. You can get a 3-way, which is pasta with sauce & cheese (so…3 things. Pasta, sauce & cheese). A 4-way with pasta, sauce, cheese & onions. Or a 5-way with pasta, sacuce, cheese, onions & beans! So many choices, so little time! And it is tasty! But it doesn’t look tasty. Actually, it kinda looks nasty. Which is why the cover the stuff in this one giant heap of glorious cheese! And it’s soooo good for you! And messy. So messy that normally they offer you a plastic bib to keep it off your shirt!

So anyway, THAT is what I meant by a 3-way, Twenty Four At Heart (even though I know what YOU were thinking!). But if you are watching your calories, don’t go near Skyline! Skip straight to Graeter’s ice cream, the OTHER Cincinnati delicacy. Just ask Oprah! We are all about the health foods here in the tri-state area! LOL

Just A Boy And His Bike

Pre-dewheeling…

Springtime has sprung (at least for a couple of days), and Christopher has decided that it is now or never for learning to ride his bike. I’m not gonna lie…I have been a bad dad when it comes to getting him out on his bike. We live on a street where there is a small hill, which makes it hard for little legs to get down & back on a bike. So the only thing to do is to take the bike to the park or elsewhere. Which we have done, but not enough to get Christopher up and running without his training wheels.

Well…that all changed yesterday when we took the wheels off and headed over to Grammy’s cul-de-sac so that we could practice without them. I would say it was a success, however I think Christopher had it in his head that it was gonna be an easy task. So the math falls like this…  fear + anticipation = 1 crazy little boy. But we finally got him on his bike and he kinda gets it. But it’s going to take some practice. Christopher is not a patient kid. So this could be interesting to see how much frustration he can take before there is drama. But for the first day, he did pretty good, even if there were a couple of moments of irritation!

After about an hour of practice, we went to Skyline for some coney dogs and 3-ways. And then we went home and Ava & I played her Disney Princess game on the Wii while Christopher’s best friend, Anthony, came over and then we played some basketball in the backyard. Overall, a great evening! And I’m sure there will be more just like them happening all summer long! :-)
