What The Heck…Stupid Doodle Bugs

I don’t know about your house, but we got bugs here. Lots of ’em. Seems like we’re always getting bombarded with bugs these days. A couple of years ago it was the cicadas. Then we had a throng of ladybugs attack our home. This year, apparently the woodlouse has decided to mate in unbelieveable numbers.

Unlike the cicadas, which make some god-awful noise, these little bugs do nothing but annoy me. Apparently they live under rocks and in dark places. They like moisture. Our house sits up on a hill, so our basement is underground. So for the past couple of months, these little critters (also known as doodle bugs, pill bug, potato bug, roly-poly, cheeselog (?) and/or the armadillo bug) have been kinda just poking along here in our basement. Not really bothering anybody, just sort of passing through on their way to nowhere.

What kind of purpose do such tiny little critters serve? Everything has a purpose…right? Well, I checked into it. They eat dead plants and then recycle the nutrients back into the soil. Uh…hey little bug…the soil is OUTSIDE! Get out of my freakin’ house already! They shed their shells, so I have all these little doodle bug shells all over! I have to sweep a couple of times a week to get rid of all these things! I hate bugs.

Damn doodle bugs.

Never stick a roly poly bug up your nose. Trust me on this.

For the past 2 years, we have had giant slugs on our sidewalk. None of our neighbors (who live approx six steps away) have them, just us. We think they must really like the red pavers we put in.

RolyPolies are fun to play with!! I havent a clue as to what their purpose is, but they’re fun.
