“The Road” Ends In Pittsburgh

Week 17 of the NFL season. Finally it’s over and I can head into the NCAA basketball season…which then leads into baseball season…which then leads back into the NFL season again! Lots of fun on the road this year, but it was a long 4 months and I’ll look forward to being home a little bit more. Needless to say, I’ve had some fun in quite a few cities and have some tales to tell! If you are interested, you can always look under “Places” in my Categories to see some places I’ve been and some of the adventures I’ve had with a great group of people.

Working in Pittsburgh this weekend (Cleveland vs Pittsburgh? Should be a pretty boring game…) and after doing some research, I come to find out that the movie that I am most looking forward to seeing in 2009 was shot here! That’s right…”The Road“, based on the Cormac McCarthy novel, was shot outside of Pittsburgh last February. Although the release date for this film has moved around (it was originally slated to open this holiday season), it is now scheduled for early 2009.

Starring Viggio Mortenson, Charlize Theron and Guy Pearce, this post-apocalyptical story follows Mortenson as he and his son travel through a destroyed America, heading west to the ocean. The book was awesome and the stills that I’ve found look exactly like the images I had in my mind when reading the book. Kudos to director John Hillcoat for that! So I can’t wait to see what the finished product looks like. Should be a great film (just like “No Country For Old Men” last year) and will probably make my Top 10 favorite films list for 2009! Speaking of which…

Looks like another one to add to my list. This looks like the cinematography will be incredible!
