The Wolff Den

Today is the last day of school for my kids. Christopher will move on to the 4th grade (which we hear is a LOT harder than the 3rd grade) and Ava heads to 2nd grade. I would be lying if I told you this wasn’t significant for our family simply because now we will no longer have children who will pass through the 1st grade and be taught by one of the best teachers I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Ms. Wolff has been a good friend to us as parents and our kids for the last few years. When Christopher was in her class she suffered through a room predominantly filled by boys. How she managed to survive that year with her hair still attached to her head I have no idea. And this year she had Ava and several of her girlfriends to contend with. I can’t even imagine the amount of drama that she incurred from those 6-year olds going on 16!

Needless to say, we will miss visiting Ms Wolff’s class (known as “The Wolff Den”) and petting her rabbit Kevin, chatting with her about our children and just seeing her smile whenever we are forced to bring in a forgotten book or paper. Cathy has been a pleasure and everyone who has ever had her class (she’s been teaching for 27 years!) or had a child go through her class say nothing but great things. She’s one of the reasons that our school district is so highly thought of and there is nothing I can do but to say “Thank you!” and I wish her all the best with next year’s class. Whoever is lucky enough to get her as a teacher will learn a lot and will be a better child for it.

Oh…and for the record…every year Ms. Wolff gives out awards to each of her students. Christopher was “Teacher’s Pet” his first grade year. Ava? Well…she got the “Shopping Spree Award.” I’m not exactly sure what that means but I don’t think it’s a good sign for my credit card’s future…

Thank you Ms. Wolff for all your hard work with our kids! They love and appreciate you more than you probably know and we will miss seeing you on a regular basis!

This IS how she normally dresses…in October.
