Back in 1987, a class of friends graduated from high school in Philo, OH. Among them was a gawky kid with glasses who liked to play basketball and drove a beat-up Volkswagen Bug. I wasn’t an Electric for very long. For my junior & senior year, I transferred in from a different school and was lucky to be able to join a class of some of the best people I have ever known. This past weekend, I was one of 38 of us that reunited in Zanesville to relive the “glory days” of our youth. And for one night, it felt like 1987 all over again. Needless to say, there were a lot of laughs, a lot of dancing and a lot of drinks being served! When it was all said and done, I was walking into my parents’ house at 6am with 2 of my best friends to get a couple hours of shut-eye before having to return to being an adult and parent. But for 11 hours or so…it was fun going back and feeling young again.
A wise man once said, “Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional.” I think that is fitting of our class. To all of my friends of Philo High School…thank you for being such great friends! And here’s hoping I see more of you in 5 years at the 30th!
In memory of our classmates who have passed…
Here’s a ditty…about Chuck and Diane…(you sing the rest!)
Yeah…THAT probably won’t end well…
