George is THE MAN!
So…a couple months ago we had an accident in our upstairs bathroom. A little water problem. Actually…it was a BIG water problem! And it trickled down not down just one floor but BOTH floors of our house, down to the downstairs bathroom and on down to the laundry room in the basement. Needless to say, it was quite the mess. And our good friends at Restore-Aid came to our rescue with dehumidifiers and dryers and before long, the drywall and the repairs were all taken care of. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending how you look at it, we had planned on redoing our bathroom upstairs anyway AT SOME POINT. Granted…we probably wouldn’t have decided to have it done so soon due to the fact that we were already in the process of looking to have our home piered (more on that in a second), but we decided that with all of the repair work that was gonna have to be done, we might as well go ahead and get the upstairs bathroom redone and call it a day. And so…that is what we did.
THE UPSTAIRS BATHROOM (Before George)
With a LOT of help from our handy repairman, George (who did ALL of this by himself for the most part), our bathroom is a welcome sight from our old one! The shower has been retiled, the floor has been retiled (from the lovely old linoleum that had been there since 1975), the walls redone and painted (from the old wallpaper that had been there since 1976) and it’s all sparkly and new!
THE UPSTAIRS BATHROOM (After George)
And then there was the issue with our foundation. It’s not uncommon here in our neck of the woods for homes to shift and move on the soil and clay in which they were built. The problem is…our house sits on a hill. So for us, the cracking in the walls and movement of the house was significant and noticeable. So…after years of putting it off…we had piering done to keep our home from moving up the street. Now, where there once was cracks and crevices in the walls, handyman George has filled them in and repainted and our dining & living room now look brand spanking new! I can’t tell you how excited we are that we have these 2 problems out of the way before winter hits!
THE DWYER GUYS DID THIS…
TO FIX THIS…
WHICH NOW LOOKS LIKE THIS…
Thanks to George, Restore-Aid and the foundation guys at Dwyer, we now have a fighting chance at making our home a beautiful home! So…if you’re keeping count…we have now done the following work on our little cape cod in northern Kentucky in the 11 years we’ve been here…
- Replaced furnace & air conditioner
- Kitchen completely redone
- Patio installed
- Replaced the roof
- Widened the driveway & replaced the sidewalk & steps
- Replaced the fence in the backyard
- Downstairs bathroom redone
- Upstairs bathroom redone
- Piered the foundation of the house
At this point, I’m tapping out!
